The 1863 drawing is Cavalry Soldier with Sword on Horseback, by Winslow Homer (1836-1910), done in black chalk on tan paper. It's in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, New York. It's in the public domain, and the image (also in the public domain) is available at Wikimedia Commons.
